False Generosity

False Generosity

A quid pro quo is often involved when someone is being generous.

  • Paying for client’s lunch to win their business
  • Giving donations to orphanages to earn followings
  • Gifting potential customers to strike a sale deal

It is rare to receive generosity from someone who has no hidden agenda. Is it any wonder that people get doubly wary whenever someone starts to treat them nicely? No one likes to be taken advantage of.

When you want to be generous with others, never do it with the intention to expect something in return. That is no different from a hideous sycophant.
